New Year Resolution

Here we are again, at the beginning of another wonderful, fun-filled year!!!!  This year I have challenged myself to do a 365 (err, 366, since there is a leap year in 2012!!!) project.  That being said, each week I will be focusing on one theme and I will post my results here, for all of you to see!

January 1 - 7, 2012 - Naturally revolves around New Year Resolutions.

January 1, 2012 -  When I was in college, I lugged around a HUGE view camera and worked on a project called "Rebuilding Buffalo", it was a time when alot of Buffalo was under construction, well, I've always wanted to get out and add to this project, by photographing buildings and other structures all over Buffalo. So one of my resolutions will be to get out and take a photo as much as possible of different places in Buffalo so I can add to that project. The Buffalo Lighthouse has been a place I've been wanting to go for YEARS!!!!!! When I found out it was open to the public again, I nearly died with excitment!!! So yesterday, I took the kids down to the coastguard and walked a long path only to find out it wasn't open!!!!!! Only for tours!!!! BUT, I still got an up close and personal photo, so I'm happy :)

Resolution #1 - To get out and take photos to add to my project!!!

January 2, 2012 - I always see things and think "Oh I should take a picture of that" and rarely ever do, so one of my New Year Resolutions will be to stop and "smell the roses" so to speak and when I see something and think that, I will actually stop and take a photo of it.

Resolution #2 - "Stopping to smell the roses"

January 3, 2012 - As adults we tend to forget what it's like to make snow angels and how fun playing can be.  One of my New Year Resolutions is spending less time on the computer and more time with my girls!!!!

Resolution #3 - Let Kids Be Kids

January 4, 2012 - Once you begin photographing professionally, you tend to lose a lot of time to photograph for yourself.  It is sooo important to keep yourself sharp and up on fresh ideas.

Resolution #4 -  To take time to PLAY with my photography (and friends) and get back to the roots of why I love photography!!!!

January 5, 2012 - Not only is it a resolution, but also a goal of mine, I want to get more involved in product photography.

Resolution# 5 - This one actually ends up being a triple purpose photo.  1.) I want to practice doing more product photography 2.) I want to work more with high key/white backgrounds and 3.) (and the real reason I took this photo before I realized it coincided wtih the other 2) is I want to start to use more natural remedies, for a healthier and less toxic home.

January 6, 2012 - This one is rather literal, but my Personal To Do list, with, happily, only a few things moved over from last year!!!!

Resolution# 6 - To be successful with my To-Do List!!!!

January 7, 2012 - I literally got on the thruway, drove one exit, got off, parked then walked up to the bridge and took these photos.

Resolution # 7 - Going out of my way to find the beauty in nature.

I hope you have enjoyed my first week of photos in my Project 366!!!!

Shoots for a Cure

LIFETIME MEMORIES PHOTOGRAPHY is excited to announce a partnership with Shoots for a Cure (formerly known as Think Pink Photography). Think Pink Photography was founded in October 2007 to support individuals and their families who have been touched by breast cancer. We are a charitable organization that serves two main purposes – celebrating life and supporting the cause. Recently, we changed our name and our support. We now want to support ALL cancer patients, not just breast cancer.

...I found my passion yesterday...

Yesterday I found my passion, aside from photography, of course!  I am co-founder of a networking group called P.I.N.C.S. (Proponents In Networking for Cancer Survivors) and yesterday we held a Fashion Show Fundraiser (En Vogue For The "V") to raise money for the Breast Cancer Network of WNY.  The entire day was very heart felt and emotional!  During my opening welcoming speech, I caught myself several times getting choked up and having to stop for a moment to re-gain my composure!  This is something that has NEVER happened to me before, not like that anyways.

As the day progressed and I spoke with people and listened to their stories, I felt at home with everything and everyone.  I just loved the feeling that I had throughout the whole day.

We had a small turnout but the day was simply FANTASTIC!  We got news coverage, which was HUGE!!!  The stories that were told by breast cancer survivors simply take your breath away!  I wish I could post some of the photos I took yesterday, but I didn't take a single photo!  I just took in the whole experience and let it carry me through the day!

This was a learning experience, to say the least, we know what to do differently for the next one, but most importantly, we ended the day in success!

I hope all who read this will stay tuned for future events that we will be hosting, including women's wellness seminars and workshops and of course, our fashion show event will be an annual one, so I hope everyone will make it to the next one!!!!
